WHO WE ARE
The Center for Advanced Computer-Human Ecosystems (CACHE) serves as the University of Georgia's premier facility for conducting interdisciplinary research on immersive and interactive virtual environments, including virtual, augmented, and mixed realities.
By examining the interactions between virtual and physical experiences, we see how these connections can be leveraged to address some of the most pressing and critical societal issues within our communities.
CACHE is one of the few research labs in the world with comprehensive, in-house production capabilities for sophisticated VR, AR, and MR experiences.
WHAT WE DO
Adopting a theoretically-driven, social scientific approach, we examine how new technologies create novel contexts that influence user attitudes and perceptions.
In pursuit of this, we study the extent to which virtual experiences shape the ways that people think, feel, and behave in the physical world.
AREAS OF INQUIRY
We are currently conducting research examining the roles of virtual- and mixed-reality in:
Communicating risk to vulnerable populations
Stimulating physical activity among at-risk children
Exploring advertisement persuasiveness
Advancing understandings of factors governing social relationships and identity formation
Influencing environmental awareness and sustainability
OUR GOAL
Our center is capable of simultaneously immersing up to 15 people in virtual environments.
We use cutting-edge virtual and augmented reality technologies to conduct transformative research. Our goal is to provide an understanding of emergent technology and its ability to change the world for the better.
